Frequently Asked Questions:

What the difference between the sessions and grades?
Beginners – basic bridge is played and learners will feel comfortable joining in.
Improvers – players have passed the beginner stage and want to improve their game.
Juniors – all new players are considered to be junior grade. Players with more than 30 Rating Points and more than 5 A points will be in higher grades. Here’s a full explanation of the grading system.
Open – means there’ll be a mix of grades playing. Experienced players often join these sessions to coach or demonstrate for newer players.

Do I have to play in my grade? You can play in any grade but you’ll probably get the most enjoyment by playing with others at a similar level.

What grade I should be in? Come along to our Wednesday improvers sessions. We’ll assess where you’re at and give you some tips to improve your bridge game.

Where are club sessions held? All club sessions are held at the Newbies Bridge clubrooms, 184 Great South Road, Papakura, Auckland.

Do I have to be a member to play? No, all visitors and newcomers can play but please contact us beforehand so we can make you welcome. Beginners are free during their 10 week lessons course after which they can come casually or join the club.

How much does it cost? $7 per session – or Join the club to get a discount.

Do I need to have a partner organised? If you don’t have a partner, turn up 20 minutes before a session to get paired up with someone. Alternatively, contact us beforehand and we can suggest a compatible partner for you.

What are the etiquette guidelines and club rules?  Read these helpful guidelines for good Bridge etiquette. We have detailed club rules but good sportsmanship and a friendly, supportive playing environment is all we ask.
